Recycling
Service
All of the above mentioned waste collection services include weekly recycling
collection at the curb. We provide two boxes, one blue and one yellow for your
recycling materials. The blue box is for glass, metal and plastic containers
and the yellow is for fiber products. Check out our Recycling
Guidelines for specific items that can and cannot be included in our curbside
recycling program.
Recycling
Collection Standards
- If using
your own containers or bags, weight cannot exceed 60 pounds
per container or bag. Fiber barrels, oil drums, lawn carts
and wheel barrels are improper receptacles and we reserve the
right not to handle these containers.
- Waste and
recycling should be ready for collection by 6:00 a.m. the day
of your collection or the night before. All curbside waste
and recycling should be within five feet of the curb.
- Walk-in
service includes collection of household waste only and containers
must be together and placed in front of the garage or near
the front of the house. We will not enter your garage or go
behind your home and are not responsible for items left near
your waste cans that may be mistaken for garbage.
- Please follow
our published guidelines for recycling. Recycling items should
be placed within 5 feet of curb by 6:00 a.m. the day of collection
or the night before. Contaminated or non-recyclable material
will not be taken.
- Most towns
are responsible for the collection of brush and leaves. Please
call your town to see what their collection procedures and
schedules are. We will take small amounts of brush provided
it is bundled, less than 60 pounds and less than 4’ in length.
We will also take small numbers (8-10) bags of grass and leaves
each week but are not responsible for fall leaf collection
in your area.
- A reasonable
amount (1-2 cubic yards) of bulk items will be collected on
a weekly basis provided that it is in containers, bundled or
neatly arranged so as to facilitate easy collection. The material
must be able to be handled by one man safely and will not damage
our equipment. Contractor’s building waste, dirt, rocks, sod,
trees, concrete, cars and similar items cannot be handled by
our residential equipment. Please contact our office to arrange
for roll-off service.
- Hazardous
waste will not be taken. Please call Monroe County’s Household
Hazardous Waste Program at 753-7600 (option #3).
Appliance
Pickup
Appliances are picked up separately from your regular trash
and are recycled. There is an additional charge for freon
(CFC’s) and non-freon appliances. Please
contact our office if you require an appliance pickup.
